Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Free Speech Union spokesperson Dane Giraud discusses the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr with Dr. Melissa Derby, a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Waikato, Tauranga, and good friend of the Free Speech Union. Dr. Derby's admiration for the Rev. King extends back to her childhood, and in 2019, while studying in the USA, Dr. Derby was able to follow the civil rights trail, learning more about Martin Luther King Jr by visiting many landmarks of importance to his career. Though widely celebrated, King is sorely misunderstood and Dr. Derby discusses the centrality of his Christian faith, his commitment to Free Speech, and his approach to activism and his fellow man that put him in stark contrast to the 'woke' movement of today.
